Day Five
This was to be our first day so far where we were not moving on so we could enjoy not having to pack up our home first thing. Longreach is a beautiful town
and is also a regional centre, so perfect for us to stock up with some supplies. The first stop was to a Qld institution known as Crazy Clarks (discount shop) . As Harry says “Clark must be crazy to sell so many things so cheap” what a chip off the old block! We started the day with a visit to the Qantas Founders Museum, truly inspirational when you realise the vision these guys had for this industry and more importantly their airline (maybe a conference presentation in this??). We then toured the jumbo that was flown into Longreach and now is a permanent display. For someone who flies so much, I’m not sure I needed to know so much but it was remarkable. Interesting fact that the black box is at the rear of the plane for the best chance of survival where as the most expensive seats are at the front??? From here we went to the stockmans hall of fame and really enjoyed the RM Williams show with Dusty. It was very well done and the kids really enjoyed it. At the end of the day we packed up the BBQ and headed to a river bank on the northern edge of town for an outback sunset. Beautiful!
